★★★ Slow to start, a bit heavy handedly reminding me of its self importance in the first part, but part 2 has some fascinating studies attached to it. It’s helped me deal with difficult situations at work, and for that I’m grateful.

★★★ Easy read, powered through it in an afternoon. It was pretty good, but I was hoping for some deeper insights. I read it shortly before his death, and made me wonder just what he could have done with another decade on his timer.

★★★ What I love about this book is the topic, understanding how Pixar has become the success it is is fascinating. The book has some great moments where you can connect so many layers of the story to understand the outcome. That said, by comparison to the documentary “A Pixar Story’ it’s a little slow to start. It lacked the panache of the documentary, and according to a high level Pixar employee I talked to, it also missed some key points of view about what Pixar is about. Either way, I recommend it to anyone who is as much of a Pixar fan as I am, it has all sorts of interesting stories about the creation of Pixar, and serves as a reminder of just how many times untested talent is challenged before it receives notoriety.

★★★★ Insightful read, I really enjoyed the associations it made to Natural History. Its filled with interesting information from the observations of Darwin to the invention of the Internet. Its very quotable, I really ought to read it again to bookmark all of the interesting notions discussed.

Steven Johnson’s TED talk about his new book, Where Good Ideas Come From. Good to watch to give you a sense of what he talks about in the book, but obviously a very high level review.

★★★ Easy read, some interesting notions on how we measure ability (or inability to accurately measure it). If you have seen his TED talk and loved it, it’s more of that.

★★★Its a book, a concept, and hopefully an influential movement for the betterment of society. The book came across very idealistic, perhaps with too much enthusiasm for the benefit of games without talking about the deficits, or the limitations/implications of games. Either way, an interesting concept worth pursuing.

★★★ Fairly good, felt a bit self help-ish at times. Its a short read; it only takes 3 or so hours as an audiobook. Worth reading if you want to understand how you can create influence.
